Michael Wixted was appointed Principal of St. Rita in January 2020. Previously, Mr. Wixted spent two and a half years as the Upper School Assistant Principal. During his time as an administrator at St. Rita, Mr. Wixted helped to create the original vision for the Student Success Center; introduced school-wide benchmark testing to monitor student growth; created a teacher mentor program; and introduced a new school administration model: the Dean Team. Under his leadership, St. Rita has reached a record enrollment, received a record number of applications for admission, and attained Blue-Ribbon eligible testing scores. 

At St. Rita, he also serves as the student council co-moderator and is a coach for Spartan basketball. He spent his first two years at St. Rita as a Middle School Religion teacher.

Mr. Wixted graduated in May 2023 from the Executive MBA program at the University of Texas at Austin. Mr. Wixted is a 2017 graduate of the Remick Leadership Program at the University of Notre Dame, where he earned an M.A. in Educational Leadership. He is also a 2015 graduate of the ACE Teaching Fellows program at the University of Notre Dame, where he earned his Master’s in Education while teaching 6th-8th grade Religion and Social Studies at St. Elizabeth of Hungary in Dallas. He is originally from Philadelphia, PA, and earned his B.A. from Villanova University. He is a big Villanova Basketball, Notre Dame Football, and Philadelphia Eagles fan.

Mr. Wixted previously served as a member of the Alumni Trustees for Roman Catholic High in Philadelphia, PA. He is certified in Building Level Administration, Crisis Prevention, ALICE Instruction, and Grant Writing.
