The school office is closed for the month of July but the mailbox, voice mail and emails will be checked periodically so contact us via one of those means, if you need to reach us!  The office will re-open Monday, August 3.  Happy Summer!  Stay safe and healthy!

Diocesan Speech League
The Dallas Diocesan Speech League was organized to promote and encourage excellence in speech and performance by sponsoring a diversified program of speech activities for middle school students. JPII High School will be coordinating the league activities for the 2019 – 2020 school year.

Membership
Membership is open to any Catholic School in the Diocese of Dallas.  Any 6th - 8th grade student may participate. 
 
Benefits
Participation in the League helps students:
• Acquire skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing
• Develop critical thinking skills
• Develop a sense of self confidence and poise
• Acquire knowledge, appreciation and skills in the arts
 
Participation in the League provides schools opportunities for academic competition in a supportive environment whose goal is student growth.
 
The League sponsors three meets per year. The first two meets are non-ranked events designed to improve student performance. The final meet is a ranked, competitive event
 
Fall Warm Up Meet:                     Saturday, October 12, 2019 at JPII
Final COMPETITIVE Meet:          Saturday, December 7, 2019 at JPII

The Dallas Diocesan Speech League offers competition in a variety of events:
 
Dramatic Interpretation 
Duet Acting
Humorous Interpretation
Original Oratory
Poetry Interpretation
Prose Interpretation
Storytelling
TV Commercial
Two-Man Improvisation
 
 
Students may compete in up to two two different events for both meets provided that one selection is a Section A event and the other is a Section B event. 
 
SECTION A: Poetry, Dramatic, Storytelling, Duet
SECTION B: Prose, Humorous, Oratory, TV Commercial, Two-Man Improv
