Personal Bio

Hello! I am Marlene Hewitt and starting my fourth year of teaching Physical Education at St. Rita. I have been teaching and coaching for over 23 years. Prior to teaching at St. Rita, I taught at another private school in Dallas where I was lead P.E. teacher and taught all grades levels, elementary through high school. I also coached Middle School and Varsity Cross Country, Track, Volleyball and Tennis. I was middle school Socials coordinator and co-chaired The Dawg Run school fundraiser. Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops For Heart were always a part of my PE program because I feel the importance of teaching children how they can contribute to a charity that SAVES LIVES, The American Heart Association.

I attended Sam Houston State University where I earned a B.A. in Teaching Physical Education and Business. My husband Onnie and I have been married for 37 years and have three grown children, one son-in-law and future one in February, and a future daughter-in-law (date not yet determined) We have one 2 yr. old grandson and another expected in November.

My love for fitness began when I was sixteen and got my first job at Nautilus Fitness in Garland Texas. I continued teaching exercise classes throughout college, and still teaching forty plus years later. I hold certifications in Personal Training, Yoga, Tabata, Group Fitness and Silver Sneakers.

The past two summers I have had the privilege of teaching Pickleball during Junior Decats.  Prior to this, I had camps during the Summer and Holidays for students of all ages. My camps specialized in specific needs and interests while promoting fitness, fun and a healthy lifestyle. I now offer after school sports camps here at St. Rita on Tuesday and Wednesdays.

I am excited about this school year and instilling in your children a love for fitness and sports which builds the foundation for a longer healthier life.
