Welcome to music!
I am so excited to be starting my fourth year as Kindergarten through 8th grade music teacher! It is a joy for me to have the opportunity to teach all the students at St. Rita. Prior to coming to St. Rita, I taught elementary music for 6 years in Richardson ISD. I studied vocal performance and music education at Southern Methodist University where I received my Bachelor's of Music in Music Education, as well as Orff Schulwerk Certification. I also recently completed a "First Steps in Music" course at SMU given by Dr. John Feierabend.
Singing has always been a major part of my life and is one of my greatest joys and passions! Outside of school, I enjoy singing with the choir at St. Ann's Catholic Parish in Coppell, where I am the soprano section leader and cantor.
This year our St. Rita students will have many exciting performance opportunities! Kindergarten will perform the Nativity story, while 1st and 2nd grade will combine for a Christmas Musical! 3rd and 4th grade will also combine for Spring Fling, a performance which combines singing, dancing, instrument playing, and acting! 8th grade will have their time to shine with the 8th grade Musical, directed by Sra. Schweitzer. None of these performances should be missed!
Each class in 1st grade through 8th grade will also have the opportunity to serve as music ministers for school Mass on Fridays. Each grade will prepare an anthem this year, and individual music students will be able to serve as cantors and instrumentalists.
I am sure we will have another wonderful year in St. Rita music!
