Welcome to music!
My name is Mrs. Kaylan GREEN this year (formerly Ms. Sikkel) as I was married over the summer!
I am so excited to be starting my seventh year as Pre-K through 8th grade music teacher!  It is a joy for me to have the opportunity to teach all the students at St. Rita.  Prior to coming to St. Rita, I taught elementary music for 6 years in Richardson ISD.  I studied vocal performance and music education at Southern Methodist University where I received my Bachelor's of Music in Music Education, as well as Orff Schulwerk Certification.  I also recently completed a "First Steps in Music" course at SMU given by Dr. John Feierabend.
Singing has always been a major part of my life and is one of my greatest joys and passions!  Outside of school, I enjoy singing with the church choir here at St. Rita!  You can see me singing most Sunday's at 10:45 Mass.
This year our St. Rita students will have many exciting performance opportunities!  Kindergarten will perform the Nativity story, while 1st and 2nd grade will combine for a Christmas Musical. 3rd and 4th grade will also combine for Spring Fling, a performance which combines singing, dancing, instrument playing, and acting.  8th grade will have their time to shine with the 8th grade Musical, directed by Sra. Schweitzer.  None of these performances should be missed!
As I mentioned at the top, this summer I was married to my wonderful husband, Mr. Green.  We have 2 black cats and we love to go on new adventures, whether in town, or travelling abroad.  After our wedding this summer in Horseshoe Bay, Texas, we enjoyed a relaxing and fun Honeymoon in Puerto Rico!
I look forward to another great year of making music at St. Rita!
