Plans for 2019-20 School Year re: Differentiated Instruction

In the 2019-20 school year, we will build on our strong tradition of excellence as we embark wholeheartedly to differentiate instruction:

  1. Balanced Literacy
  2. STREAM Integration
  3. Assessment & Grading

 

Balanced Literacy

Our efforts to develop a balanced approach to teaching literacy is highlighted by the new literacy resources we have purchased for all Early PreK through 4th grade classrooms. Our teachers will attend multiple professional development trainings to improve the teaching and learning in their classrooms.

 

STREAM Integration   (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Art, Math)

As we have been improving our infrastructure over the last few years, we are excited to roll out our 1-to-1 Chromebook program to all 4th to 8th graders next year. In addition, we look forward to capitalizing on the success of STREAM to incorporate more design thinking, project-based STREAM learning into our curriculum and a new innovative specialty lab to allow for PreK 4 - 4th graders creativity, critical thinking and problem solving.

 

Assessment and Grading

How we evaluate student learning is a topic we will spend some time on next year, primarily in small PLC (Professional Learning Community) groups, as we begin laying the groundwork for improving student learning by improving the feedback we give to our students regarding their learning.
